Jesus is a 6 year old boy from Venezuela. He has a condition known as Williams syndrome which is associated with a very typical type of narrowing in the aorta (main vessel to the body) just above the aortic valve. This type of narrowing can often be associated with sudden death. I met Jesus in Venezuela when he was 1 year old and the severity of his narrowing has progressed to the point that surgery is indicated. On February 22 Dr. Eric Ceithaml MD performed a life saving open heart operation on Jesus with an excellent result. This boy was discharged from the hospital within 5 days of his operation and returned to his hometown in Venezuela on March 13, 2007.
