Jin Mei is an almost 10 year old girl from southeast China. Her heart condition consists of a large hole between the pumping chambers of the heart (ventricular septal defect) and narrowing in the pathway from the right side of the heart to the lungs (pulmonary stenosis). She underwent cardiac catheterization for clear delineation of her heart lesion on January 19 followed by open heart repair on January 22. She sailed through surgery and was discharged from the hospital in 3 days! We anticipate this is the only operation JinMei will require for her heart defect. Her long term outcome is excellent.
